about
This tongue-in-cheek about fracking was one of the most requested songs when I was living in and playing around Fort Collins, Colorado. I've always thought that mischief has a better chance of making a point than straight ahead lecturing which is a too often a cousin to dogma. After all it was Tom Robbins who said, "Ideas are made by masters, dogma by disciples, and the Buddha is always killed on the road."
lyrics
She came to me in my dreams one night
Mother Nature but her hair had all turned white
She said, “You people got me going in a bipolar spin
All that nasty frackin’ that I see that you been doin’
All your promises of going green and now you’re backin’ out on that scene
So I got these nickel dimin’, two timin’ Mother Nature frackin’ blues.”
(Chorus)
Oh no no no, huh uh huh uh huh
Oh no no no huh uh huh uh huh huh uh huh
She said, “All you fossil fuelin’ junkies got me feelin’ awful funky
It’s humanity in all its vanity
And your backsliding’s chillin’ cuz your horizontal drillin’
Just another tired old profanity.
And your grandchildren they are pleadin’ cuz their elders are just not leadin’
So I got these nerve rackin,’ ransackin’ Mother Nature frackin’ blues.”
(Chorus)
“You gotta stop frackin’ it,
There’s big bucks backin’ it
It’s drillin’ on steriods
A continental hemorrhoid, “I’m down to my nothin’ left to lose
So I got these down under, pillage and plunder Mother Nature’s frackin’ Blues.”
(Chorus)
When I woke up Mother Nature she was gone but she left me with this song
And a note tied with a pretty little bow
She said, “don’t you think you can be cheatin’ and have your cake and eatin’
Cuz I’m tellin’ you it just ain’t so.
And if you think that you won’t have to pay your debt, that ain’t nothin’ but a sucker bet
So I got these night time stealin,’ double dealin’ Mother Nature frackin’ Bluuuuuues,
I got these sinkin’ lower, game over Mother Nature frackin,’ the whole wide world is slackin’
Mother Nature frackin’ Blues Oh no no no huh uh.”

A combination of punchy and poetic lyrics on contemporary topics backed up by some tasty finger picking guitar licks. A
rootsy sound that is a combination of Chicago folk and blues influences of the early years, then fused with the later inspirations from the Austin alt. country sound. When not playing Bruce can be found horseback somewhere in a Colorado pasture....more
